The CYO is proud to offer The Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y Clinic twice a year, typically offered in early Fall and early Spring each year. The acronym S.A.F.E.T.Y stands for Sports Awareness for Educating Today’s Youth. The CYO through their certified instructors educates volunteer coaches on the minimum standards for coaching, which protects them from civil immunity provided by the Little League Law.
The course provides safety orientation and training skills program through a curriculum developed through Rutgers
University, which has been tested in court as having met the standards. After completing this course all participants are permanently registered with the Youth Sports Research Council.
The CYO offers this course free of charge for all of our CYO coaches, and to other youth recreation coaches if spaces in the class are available. The CYO has certified over 550 volunteer coaches through this Program.
